In the media we hear a lot about ski resorts
in the European Alps, Scandinavia and North America. Less is heard about
the many other ski resorts that span the globe in countries like
Australia, Japan and South Africa.
In total there are 38 countries that lay claim to at least one ski
resort. Some have established ski industries that attract hundreds of
thousands of visitors each year; others are just emerging in the winter
sports and mountain activities market.
In many of these countries there are opportunities to own ski properties
as a winter ski retreat, second home or ski income property. Prices, as
you would imagine, vary considerably. A ski apartment near Pamporovo Ski
Resort in Bulgaria for instance costs less than 50,000 Euros /
£35,000GBP / $62,000 USD. Near the Cairngorms in Scotland the same type
of ski apartment would cost ski property investors a lot more.
Ski properties in Europe
Besides Bulgaria and Scotland - and
outside the main ski areas of the European Alps and Scandinavia - Europe
has a wealth of other ski resorts.
France, Andorra and Spain share the Pyrenees ski resorts, while in the
South of Spain the Sierra Nevada represents Europe's most southerly ski
resort. Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia, Israel, Turkey and Russia all have
ski resorts too, providing ski property investors with a wealth of
European ski areas to choose from.
Ski properties in Africa
It often surprises people to learn that
Africa has a ski industry. South Africa and the enclave of Lesotho are
home to it, providing ski enthusiasts from the Northern Hemisphere with
skiing opportunities in the summer. In North Africa, Morocco has two ski
resorts where ski properties may be purchased.
Ski properties in Asia
The Asian continent has several
established and emerging ski resorts. Japan has a thriving ski industry
and is home to several hundred ski resorts. India too has many ski
resorts. Other countries where ski property can be bought include South
Korea and China.
Ski properties in South America
Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina
represent the ski industry in South America. There are many
opportunities to invest in ski properties in several regions of this
increasingly important ski market.
Ski properties in Australia & New
Zealand
In the Southern Hemisphere Australia and
New Zealand have well-established ski industries. A ski apartment room
at one of Australia's premier ski resorts can be purchased for less than
£30,000GBP / 45,000 Euros / $55,000 USD. |
